A new web site from Seattle-based HealthTalk Interactive connects patients suffering from serious and chronic health conditions (multiple sclerosis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and breast cancer, for example) with nationally recognized medical specialists via free interactive audio broadcasts over the World Wide Web. Patients, their families, and other physicians may "attend" a specific show by logging on to the site at the scheduled time. Participants are welcome to submit questions in advance by visiting the site prior to the Webcast. Some patients are then selected to speak by phone to the medical experts during the program. A recording of each show, which typically runs one to two hours, along with a printable transcript, is later made available. You do need special audio software—RealPlayerG2—but you can download it free from the site.
